John F. P. Bridges

John F. P. Bridges is an Assistant Professor in the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. He received his Ph. D. in Economics, City University of New York, 2002; M.Ec. (Honors First Class), University of Sydney, 1997; B.Ec. (Honors), Australian National University.

Dr. Bridges� research focuses on studying: (1) organisational determinants of quality of care and adverse events, especially in home health care; (2) patient preferences of health and non health outcomes (both benefits and costs); (3) the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of health care services; (4) health care financing, including health insurance, hospital payments (Casemix funding) and reimbursement decisions including health technology assessment and other �fourth hurdle� systems. The aim of this research is to improve the efficiency of the health care system and to empower patient in medical decision making.

John was the recipient of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcome Research�s Bernie O�Brien New Investigator Award in 2006
