Former FDA director defends pharmaceutical industry investments in prevention campaigns

RIO – The pharmaceutical industry should invest in disease prevention campaigns. This is the opinion of the former director of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Peter Pitts, chairman of the Center for Medicine in the Public Interest, in New York. At a meeting with industry executives and journalists in Rio, Pitts defended the companies’ expenditures on health education.
