Sorry Dennis
By Peter Pitts
August 14, 2008
Remember Dennis Kucinich? The former Boy Mayor of Cleveland has introduced legislation that would allow senior citizens to buy prescription medicines overseas, “from approved foreign countries where drugs are significantly cheaper,” while simultaneously doing away with the Part D non-interference clause.
With Lebron out of town, perhaps the Congressman thought he could grab some media cowbell. But all he’s done is show his, well, cavalier attitude towards healthcare reform in general and the facts in particular.
And adding to the lunacy, his “Medicare Drugs For Seniors Act” (HR 6800) would also impose limits on the prices which drugmakers would be allowed to charge for their products if the R&D which led to the drugs’ discovery had been financed “by taxpayers’ dollars.”

"Bullying, ignorant and patronising" -- NICE attacked by experts over drug ban scandal
By Jenny Hope
The drugs-rationing body for the NHS has been accused of bullying, ignoring and patronising patients.
The unprecedented attack follows the highly-controversial decision to ban drugs that can extend the life of kidney cancer victims.
Experts asked to advise the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence have lodged complaints, describing the consultation as a sham.

Radio Talk Show Host Laura Ingraham on BigGovHealth (7.8.08):
THINK GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE IS A GOOD IDEA? Think again. Closing out today's show, Shona Holmes, a Canadian brain-tumor survivor, recounted her personal health-care horror story. Fortunately, she managed to flee to the States for a life-saving operation. Joining her was Peter Pitts, president of the new website, BigGovHealth.org.
Republicans are already struggling to counter Obama's message of free health care, and that's what makes this site so useful.
